Dear Bloggers,
I must admit that it's an eye opener for me to feel how wonderful the internet world has brought to us-- instant & real time freedom of expression ! As a member of this Global Village, I hope to express my views by posting some questions to each of us who are interested groups of the SMYCPIBG.
Dear Parents
1) As parents, can we sit back & ask " is educating our children the sole responsibility of the teachers? " If we apportion the time that our children are spending with us since birth & the time that they spend at school, are we ourselves doing enough to educate them in addition to loving them? If they misbehave in school, do we bear first responsibility?
2) There are almost 2,000 students at school vs. about 100 teachers, are we realistic to expect all teachers to work wonders. Yes they are bad apples, but what about the good ones, are we demoralizing them also ? We talked about reverse psychology, but what about this public reprimand of a few teachers ? Have we seen improvements in the school in the last 2 years?
3) We are have gone through our schooling days. We know children of this age are rebellious & can be mischievous, do we only listen to their side of the story ? The school children come from diversified background, some of them not so fortunate, have we done something to help them instead of pushing them to the teachers?
Dear Students
1) Yes as students you should enjoy your carefree days. But meanwhile can you also learn how to be more responsible as you grow up? Why do teachers scold you or worst still cane you if you have done no wrong ? Are all the teachers that bad?
2) Life at school can be very enjoyable. You have great classmates as friends. Do you help those who are less fortunate to improve in their studies? To those who have gone overboard in their behavior, are you friend enough to help to correct them?
3) When faced with difficult questions, do you tell white lies to your parents & thus half-truth? Can we learn to understand & respect your parents & teachers by telling nothing but the truth?
Dear Teachers
1) You have chosen teaching as your profession, aren't you aware of your responsibilities & challenges in the real world? Harsh words are not nice to hear but likewise easy to shoot !
2) We are fully aware the difficulties that you are facing but have you done something to bring about improvement ? If you can assist to convert even one bad student a year, it's still better than none. Running away at this time means you are accepting defeat?
3) Most of you are also parents & thus have school-going children, so can you view the criticisms from the angle of parents & students? Can we look at the issues objectively & seek to resolve them together?
Dear Myself
1) I have gone thru' the mills & ups & downs in life , have I learnt enough from my past mistakes & wrongdoings to make me a better person?
2 ) Do I practise what I preach ? Do I walk the talk myself ? Do I always count ten times before I speak or act if I am agitated ?
3) What can I do to help others so as to make this a better world before I make my eventual departure?
Dear fellow friends, to err is human being. We all are human being & not saints but let's see how to get closer to being one. We all remember our school motto & can sing & understand the meaning of our school song. Are we doing justice to help to rebuild this school to its greater heights in another 100 years or are we unknowingly destroying the hardwork done by our forefathers with their bare hands?
We all are enthusiastic, passionate & energetic for the betterment of the school & children. Let's forget our differences & put our positive energy to constructive actions. I thank you for reading this & welcome any different views that you might have.
